History never changes by itself. History changes only when willpower is applied. Long-standing norms do not change quickly. Reforms cannot be achieved alone. For that, unity and correct decisions by the general public are required. And the medium for making that decision is a referendum. A referendum is a type of survey through which people express their opinion on a specific issue by saying "yes" or "no."
The first referendum in Bangladesh was held on 30 May 1977. Through this vote, the people of the country expressed whether they had confidence in the President and his policies and programs.
The second referendum was held on 21 March 1985. It was conducted to verify the legitimacy of the policies and programs of the then President and Chief Martial Law Administrator, Hussain Muhammad Ershad.
For the fourth time, another referendum is going to be held. In July, a referendum on constitutional amendments included in the National Charter. Bangladesh is moving toward a new path of reform. This referendum will play a role in building a fascism-free country
