পৃথিবীজুড়ে ছড়িয়ে-ছিটিয়ে থাকা জীবন ও প্রকৃতিকে কাছ থেকে দেখার আগ্রহ মানুষের চিরন্তন অন্তর্গত স্বভাবসমূহের অন্যতম। আর এ ধরনের স্বভাবের তাড়নাতেই ইবনে বতুতা কিংবা হিউয়েন সাং সুদূর মরক্কো কিংবা চীন দেশ থেকে তৎকালীন দুর্গম পথের বাধা অতিক্রম করে এ উপমহাদেশ এসেছিলেন। অবশ্য এ উপমহাদেশীয় মানুষের মধ্যে ভ্রমণপিপাসা অতীতে কখনোই খুব একটা প্রবল ছিল না। হতে পারে, অর্থনৈতিক অসচ্ছলতা এর একটি বড় কারণ। তবে বাঙালির মধ্যে স্বভাবগতভাবেই ঘরকুনো হয়ে থাকার প্রবণতা যে একসময় যথেষ্টই ছিল, তাতে বিন্দুমাত্র কোনো সন্দেহ নেই। অবশ্য স্বাধীনতার পর থেকে জীবিকার প্রয়োজনে সারা পৃথিবীতেই বাঙালি এখন এত বিচিত্র স্থানে ও পেশায় ছড়িয়ে-ছিটিয়ে পড়েছে যে, তা দেখে রীতিমতো অবাক হতে হয়। কে জানে, ভবিষ্যতের কোনো এক পর্যায়ে এ অভিবাসী বাঙালির সংখ্যা হয়তো মূল ভূখণ্ডে বসবাসকারী জনসংখ্যাকেও ছাড়িয়ে যাবে কি না।

Bangladesh is one of the youngest nations on the planet. The recent political changes in the country have offered us an opportunity to rethink, revisit, reevaluate, and rebrand the competitiveness of Bangladesh. This is highlighted by the Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus's visit to the Summit of the Future 2024 in New York. The support of the world leaders to an 84-year-old statesman who needed no introduction at the UN was overwhelming. His speeches, handshakes, hugs, presentations, meetings, receptions, and photo sessions were good public relations for a two-month-old government. Perhaps, we are entering a new era of diplomacy.

জুলাই ২০২৪-এর যুগান্তকারী গণ-অভ্যুত্থান নতুন বাংলাদেশ বিনির্মাণের সুযোগ তৈরি করেছে। ছাত্র-জনতার সফল আন্দোলনের ফলে প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়েছে অন্তর্বর্তীকালীন সরকার। মাননীয় প্রধান উপদেষ্টার দায়িত্বে রয়েছেন শান্তিতে নোবেলজয়ী বিশ্ববরেণ্য ব্যক্তিত্ব প্রফেসর ড. মুহাম্মদ ইউনূস। বিগত কয়েক দশকে দারিদ্র্যমুক্তির লক্ষ্যে উদ্ভাবনী পদযাত্রায় ক্ষুদ্র অর্থায়নের প্রবক্তা হিসাবে তিনি নিজের অবস্থানকে সুদৃঢ় করেছেন। নারীর ক্ষমতায়ন, নারী উন্নয়ন এবং অপেক্ষাকৃত অবহেলিত নারীশক্তির স্বরূপ উন্মোচনে বিরল দৃষ্টান্ত স্থাপন করতে সক্ষম হয়েছেন। তার শূন্য দারিদ্র্য, শূন্য বেকারত্ব ও শূন্য কার্বন নিঃসরণ প্রত্যয়ের অনুপ্রেরণায় বিশ্বের তরুণ প্রজন্ম উজ্জীবিত।

Microfinance has been hailed as a powerful tool for alleviating poverty, empowering low-income populations and promoting financial inclusion, particularly in underdeveloped and developing economies. It provides small loans and financial services to low-income individuals who lack access to traditional banking systems. While traditional microfinance has some limitations (as those institutions often charge high, double-digit interest rates to cover operational costs), soft microfinance can be a more humane and sustainable approach to micro-financing, which gives emphasis on borrowers’ welfare and social development instead of profit maximisation. This type of microfinance is mainly designed to facilitate the most vulnerable borrowers, such as the low income people who have very limited repayment capacity.
